Monitor and Target - Once there has been a breach the attacker has gained access within the organisation. it is the security teams' job to monitor the activity of the breach. The period when the attacker has an initial foothold and is working out what move to make next this can be used as an advantage for the small business 

Always Expect a Breach - Companies need to test the protection layers for the company's data and also having a plan in place for when a breach might occur. Consistence checks and servlets to see if the current system is effective and alerts when there's a potential risk and allowing the business enough time to take action and fight the breach. Network segregation will hinder the attacker's ability to move quickly laterally.  

Create a Culture of Security - Superiors of the company need to express the importance of cyber security across the organization. Cyberattacks can affect all departments across the company which should be known across the business. There should be regular meetings and updates on cyber security and talks with the security providers I think this is a very important aspect to keep on top of cyberattacks and keep company information secured. The security team show give regular briefings to the management team of the company on how the business is responding to cyber threats.

According to the research I read I learned how a cyberattack affects a small business and can completely destroy the company because they don't have the funding to revive themselves and stop the data breaches. Small businesses, cybersecurity is not a one-time investment but an ongoing process. Building awareness in the company of cybersecurity, allows employees to stay informed and have a strong security practice and can help protect your business from cyber threats. There will always be an element of risk, but having a strategies can significantly reduce your exposure and help secure your business against the majority of cyberattacks.
